Cuauhtémoc Cardenas
Cuauhtémoc Cardenas is a Mexican politician who was born on May 1, 1934 in Mexico City, Mexico to President Lazaro Cardenas del Rio and Amalia Solórzano. Being born in a very successful family, Cuauhtémoc really lived up to the their expectations. In 1974, Cardenas became senator for the state of Michoacán and then governor in 1980. When his term ended in 1986, Cardenas and a few other politicians founded The Party of Democratic Revolution (PRD) in 1989 where he became the Head of Government of the Federal District. PRD is a social democratic political party meaning that they advocate the use of democratic means to achieve a gradual transition from capitalism to socialism. Today, Cárdenas remains a senior member of the PRD, and is considered the 'moral leader' of this party.
